Diamond and Tuloy Foundation Internship program
Diamond Fleet Management System and the Tuloy Foundation has completed its first batch of its internship program. Started last April 14, 2008, the six month internship program gave the opportunity for both IT and Mechanical students of Tuloy Foundation to apply their theoretical knowledge onto the real world work environment.
The IT students were placed in different departments of Diamond assisting the regular staff with day-to-day activities. The exposure was as real as it could get, having some of the interns assigned right where Diamond held in-office location of key clients (e.g. Coca-Cola, Unilever, etc.). In the office they handled important tasks, more notably the handling of the new enterprise software of Diamond (Netsuite).
The Mechanical interns were naturally assigned to Pronto! Auto Services, where they got a dose of not only practical application of their knowledge from their schooling but also exposure to Pronto’s standard of quality and service.
In the end the program was deemed as a great synergy between Diamond and the Tuloy Foundation. The kids were able to make an impact to Diamond’s operations in turn they were able to gain valuable experience*. Infact a good number of the interns (6 IT interns at Diamond 2 interns at Pronto!) were eventually hired after the 6 month program, taking jobs usually reserved for collegiate level graduates.
*the Tuloy Foundation interns were also given monetary allowances as well as food allowance. Overtime pay was applied when needed.
